AccessOPEN vs. Traditional Medical Coverage
Two of the most common questions we hear is "Can I have medical insurance in addition to a membership with AccessOPEN?" and "Will AccessOPEN replace my medical insurance?"
AccessOPEN is not a health insurance provider and therefore, is not a replacement for traditional medical insurance. It is designed to offer services at a discounted rate, whereby in most cases save far more than the cost of insurance premiums and deductibles of some insurance plans. Simply put, it can often be cheaper to use the AO Membership for health-related services than to use your own health insurance. There are, however, a number of conditions that are not covered through the AccessOPEN Network. In these cases, you may elect to carry traditional medical coverage or a catastrophic insurance policy as a supplement.
